We offer for sale the complete SPOON SPORTS engine assembly. Each engine comes directly from the engine room at the SPOON SPORTS workshops. It is there that the mechanics assemble the engines with incredible precision and balance each component to within 0.02g to guarantee optimal performance during endurance races.

The engines are assembled at TYPE ONE, SPOON SPORTS' workshop in Tokyo, Japan. Each unit is hand-assembled under the close supervision of highly experienced engineers. The engines are designed to deliver excellent performance while ensuring exceptional reliability.

The crucial element to consider in engine construction is clearance management. Modern engines incorporate various materials such as aluminum and steel to strike a balance between durability and weight reduction. For example, steel cylinder liners are cast into an aluminum cylinder block and combined with aluminum pistons. Components such as the crankshaft, camshaft, and intake and exhaust valves, made of steel, are mounted on aluminum cylinder blocks and cylinder heads.

Given the different coefficients of thermal expansion between aluminum and steel, the clearance tends to fluctuate with temperature changes. To ensure optimal clearance management during assembly, the motors are meticulously assembled in a controlled, temperature-regulated cleanroom environment.

These engines are only assembled to order.
